The owner of Big Ass Fans, a Kentucky-based industrial fan manufacturing company, requested a tactile piece to be mass-mailed to a large customer base across the United States. The piece needed to have broad appeal, featuring industrial, commercial and residential products, and a variety of content including new and upcoming product highlights, industry articles, case studies, customer interviews, company expansion stats, community outreach initiatives, employee spotlights, and fun work culture photos.
To meet these requirements, we proposed a magazine publication created by the entire marketing department. Each issue would have a unique design and layout but maintain a clear Big Ass Fans brand identity. The magazine was well-received and ultimately submitted to the American Advertising Awards competition, where it won a best-in-class Gold Addy.
Maystorm Studio was commissioned by ASDSO to develop a comprehensive branding strategy for their upcoming Dam Safety conference in Palm Springs. Our design approach included the integration of key elements that are representative of the local topography and vegetation, namely mountains, palm trees, and cacti.
In addition to creating a suite of digital ads, signage, collateral, and social media banners, we formulated a color palette featuring cool blue hues complemented by warm, gradient shades of yellow, orange, and red to align with the event's location and ASDSO’s branding.
The main typeface conveys a bold and confident feel. Additionally, we introduced a touch of softness and retro appeal with the cursive accent font, which lends a sense of nostalgia reminiscent of the area's vintage charm.
The use of subtle gradients throughout the designs evokes a sense of fluidity (akin to water movement) which relates to the core theme of Dam Safety. We selected red and yellow as primary accent colors to further underscore the importance of awareness and urgency, both of which are crucial to the conference.
Overall, our branding strategy conveys a cohesive and distinctive visual identity that embodies the spirit of the conference and its objectives.
